Add Red Mode to Your iPhone

If you need to use your iPhone after dark, event the dimmest normal brightness setting gives off blue light, so here’s an easy hack to let you quickly set your phone into “red mode”.

I have included screen shots of every step. Click on an image if you need to enlarge.

First, go into “Settings”.

Scroll down and click on “Accessibility”.

Select “Display & Text Size”

It is probably recommended to drop the”White Point” setting, which will lower the top-end brightness of your display.

Now go into “Color Filters”

This is where you can set various options, mainly for people with colour-blindness. However we want to use “Color Tint”. Click on that and go for maximum intensity.

You can swipe sideways at the top to pick different ways of selecting your preferred colour. Any of the reds should be fine. Play and find the one that’s best for your eyes.

Next go back to “Accessibility” and scroll down to “Accessibility Shortcut”. This is where you will set the action you want the phone to perform when you triple-click the power button.

Simply select “Color Filters” and you’re all set! Test triple-clicking your power button and you should see the display goggle between dark red and normal.

Note: If you use a Mac computer, you can do similar by going to System Preferences > Accessibility > Display > Color Filters.
